It had been eight years since she'd performed on stage.
And Shania Twain didn't have to utter one note before receiving a standing ovation from the first audience of her two-year residency show, Shania: Still the One, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

The five-time Grammy winner finished off her Sin City look with waist-long curly extensions and dramatic black gloves which had several dangling streamers attached at the wrists.
'Thank you so much! You guys are going to get me all emotional, and then my eyelashes are going to fall off,' Twain said to the crowd, according to The Canadian Press.
'This is a very overwhelming night...It's been a lot of years for me since I've been here. I realize what I've been missing, thanks to you.'
Shania, who's sold more than 75 million albums worldwide, has several costume changes throughout the 100-minute show - riding atop two horses, a motorcycle, and dangling on wires as she sings her hit songs That Don't Impress Me Much, Come On Over, and You're Still the One.
Marc Bouwer, the man behind Twain's costumes for the past 15 years, redesigned a stage version of the leopard-print hooded robe from her That Don't Impress Me Much music video and the black undertaker's coat and bowler hat from Man! I Feel Like a Woman.
The Canadian-bred country starlet was also reportedly seen wearing sparkling pink western button-down with matching cowboy boots and a glamorous long white gown as she crooned before a 13-piece band in the 4,298-seat venue.
Twain has also been tweeting behind-the-scenes images of herself rehearsing the show to her 197,709 followers.
It's hard to believe that Shania has been in vocal rehabilitation for years after coming down with a condition called dysphonia following her devastating divorce from her husband-producer Robert John 'Mutt' Lange.
'I am being very conscientious,' The Queen of Country Pop told Las Vegas Weekly.
'I take a lot of steam showers, and (former Colosseum headliner) Bette Midler has recommended some [throat] sprays. Everybody has given me their little tips, and I’m just being very careful. I take good care of myself.'
When the father of her 11-year-old son Eja left Shania for her best friend Marie-Anne Thiébaud in 2008, Twain ended up marrying Marie's ex-husband Frédéric Thiébaud last year.
