E.COLI AND THE BEEF SCARE IN CANADA: Dozens more products have been added to the recall of beef processed by the XL Foods plant in Brooks, Alberta.

Dozens more products have been added to the recall of beef processed by the XL Foods plant in Brooks, Alberta.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has posted an expanded list of products on the website.
The meat is contaminated with the bacterial strain E. Coli O157:H7.
The recall started mostly with ground meat, but the food agency has made major additions to the list several times, with many of the products being un-ground cuts like steaks and roasts.
The food inspection agency says consumers should get rid of any of the recalled beef.
“Food contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 may not look or smell spoiled,” it warns.
“Consumption of food contaminated with these bacteria may cause serious and potentially life-threatening illnesses.”
“Symptoms include severe abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. Some people may have seizures or strokes and some may need blood transfusions and kidney dialysis. Others may live with permanent kidney damage. “
“In severe cases of illness, people may die.”
