The movie, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim, revolves around Yeong-hye (Chae Min-seo), a woman who decides to become a vegetarian. Her new lifestyle ignites the fury of her father. Meanwhile, her brother-in-law, a painter going through a slump, finds inspiration in a surprising place.

Young-heh is an average person with an average life who suddenly decides to become a vegetarian. Her husband and other family members are surprised by her sudden announcement. One day, the family is all having a meal together when Young-heh’s father uses violence to force her to eat meat, to which she responds with a seizure and cuts her wrist with a knife.
